How do I get Original Medicare?

Turning 65 years old
This is the most common way to get Medicare. Did you know that over 10,000 people turn 65 years old in the U.S. every day?

Social Security Disability
If you have had SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) for two years you are likely eligible for Medicare. If you have questions contact your local social security office.

ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease AKA dialysis) & ALS
(Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis AKA Lou Gehrig’s Disease)

These two rare diseases automatically qualify you for Medicare if you are 18 years old or older.

LOSING EMPLOYER COVERAGE and or RETIRING?

If you have worked beyond your 65th birthday and have been covered by employer coverage did you know you can still sign up for Medicare? Contact your HR department and they will guide you through the process. You will eventually need to meet with your local Social Security office to finalize the process. You only have about 60 days to get the additional coverages in place to avoid additional expenses… and possible government imposed penalties.
