How do I Add Benefits to Medicare?
There are different ways to get additional benefits like vision, dental and hearing.
Dental
You can buy a stand alone dental plan ranging from $20 to $80 per person. When enrolling in a stand alone dental plan there may be a 6 … to 12 … to 18 month waiting period for major services… OR … Most Medicare beneficiaries opt to get these benefits through a private medical plan to eliminate waiting periods and have a lower premium or in many cases no premium at all.
If you have a Medicare Supplement plan, employer plan, or any type of group health insurance these private medical plans may interfere with your current coverage. You would want to look for a stand alone dental plan to avoid this problem.
Vision
Some companies offer stand alone vision plans costing anywhere from $10 to $25 per month and help cover the costs for exams and glasses/contact lenses. This coverage may be offered by full health plans contracted with Medicare.
Hearing
Hearing Aids are rarely covered through a stand alone plan. Some private insurance companies may offer hearing benefits in a package deal. These plans will often include large discounts on hearing aids and in many cases pay for a year’s worth of batteries.
Over-the-Counter Benefits
